Development Project Manager

Boston, MA


  • Manage all aspects of development, including: pre-development, entitlements, consultant coordination, design and construction team oversight, marketing, leasing and sales

  • Manage agency approval and permitting process

  • Procure and manage the services of Architects, Engineers and Consultants through the entitlement phase

  • Support new development acquisitions, due diligence and project financing

  • Develop, update and manage project schedules and budgets

  • Interface with in-house Construction personnel from concept studies through bid documents, performing ongoing cost analyses in order to accurately determine the project cost and identify the most cost-efficient construction means, materials and methods and the related schedule

  • Coordinate with internal Leasing representatives, tenant coordination teams, prospective tenants, development partners, internal tenant coordinators and third-party consultants through the planning process

  • Facilitate evaluation of the project design by Management and Operations in order to ensure that the interests of each group are satisfied, progressing through the development process as key milestones (entitlements, pre-leasing, financing, etc.) are achieved

  • Facilitate and monitor design and construction effort to ensure that the project development and design objectives are satisfied

  • Establish and oversee the project schedule and lead the team in completing required tasks and deliverables on the critical path to complete the project

  • Strong communication and public speaking to effectively communicate project expectations, deliverables, and/or concerns to team members and stakeholders in a timely and professional manner

  • Attend regular meetings and be available for special meetings including community outreach and zoning


  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, design, business, or a related field (Masters in a related field is preferred)

  • 5 – 10 years of directly related real estate project management experience managing commercial real estate projects

  • Experience in the entitlement process and navigating community and local approvals to achieve development approvals

  • Experience leading community outreach and participation programs, building relationships with civic and political leaders/influencers, acting as community liaison to build awareness and support for proposed development projects, and managing conflicts to achieve consensus or other acceptable resolution

  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to manage a multidisciplinary team including design and construction, and property management

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team

  • Highly organized, detail oriented and self-motivated

  • Ability to generate pro forma development and operating budgets utilizing Microsoft Excel

  • Excellent written, oral and email communication skills

  • Ability to travel 10% of the time
