Primary Duties: Provide day-do-day support for all aspects of the attorney’s case requirements. The responsibilities for this position may include the following: fact gathering; legal research; attending client meetings and depositions (both in and outside the office), court hearings, and trials; drafting discovery or other pleadings; organizing and maintaining files; reviewing documents and exhibits; providing support and assistance to the attorney in preparation for hearings, depositions, meetings, or trial; communicating with clients, attorneys, and witnesses, as well as court clerk's offices and members of the public; screening and preparing email and mail; proofreading documents, emails, and other written communications; managing calendars (including the scheduling of critical dates, deadlines, and case-related appointments); completing forms; preparing court documents for filing; and maintaining and updating a case management system. Additionally, there will be administrative and clerical duties, including typing and filing and other duties, that may be assigned as required.
Position Qualifications: Applicants with prior civil litigation experience and/or who are attending law school evenings are preferred for this full-time position. Strong writing, organizational, and communication skills are required. The successful applicant will be a highly motivated worker who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of Word and Excel are required, and a candidate with a working knowledge of Westlaw is preferred. A valid Massachusetts driver's license and the ability to drive is required, as travel is required to various courts, client and opposing party locations, and law offices. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a connection to the people and communities we serve, and an interest in supporting a respectful and inclusive work environment.
