Assistant Attorneys General (AAsG) in the Consumer Protection Division are responsible for identifying problematic business practices that negatively impact consumers, evaluating their suitability for enforcement, and ultimately, investigating and litigating civil actions on behalf of the Commonwealth, where appropriate. AAsG develop and implement concrete strategies for remedying industry-wide consumer abuses. AAsG also have the opportunity to participate in legislative and regulatory policy development at both the state and federal levels.
Position Requirements: Complex litigation or other equivalent legal experience required. Applicants should be highly motivated, intellectually curious, and able to assimilate new and complicated subject areas. The successful candidate will demonstrate aptitude for formal and informal writing, legal analysis, negotiation, and oral advocacy. Understanding of consumer financial markets and the ability to analyze and explain data is especially valuable. We seek an individual who can work both independently and as part of a close-knit team. We seek an individual who is committed to practicing law in the public interest. Must be a member of the Massachusetts Bar. Knowledge of a second language, especially Spanish or Portuguese, is preferred. Worcester Regional Office.
