Responsibilities


Customer Service Administrative

  • Answering telephones to assist Freedom Trail and Boston visitors; responding to e-mail inquiries; scheduling historic walking tours; and acting as costumed interpreters liaison and group tours contact.

Programming

  • Assist team to create new and enhance existing programs and events, including, but not limited to, recruiting and hiring employees to conduct programs, coordinating training, and managing period-correct clothing and other items necessary for programs. Maintain and build the successful Scholars Program (in-school education program), including, but not limited to: acting as Foundation liaison to schools and school districts; scheduling school visits; managing Scholars Program school databases using Excel spreadsheets and Google docs; and preparing all pre- and post-school visit paperwork. Promote program via marketing and public relations efforts, document tests results and feedback, and manage costumed interpreters. Assist team to research new history projects and/or historical facts. Conduct Foundation-led walking tours or virtual programs, as needed


Candidate Requirements


4-year college degree; 2-3 years customer service and administrative experience; strong verbal and written communication skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office programs; ability to respond promptly and effectively to external and internal individuals; ability to balance changing priorities; deliver work of appropriate quality on time; excellent organizational and time management skills; multi-tasking aptitude; ability to learn and memorize facts to conduct high-quality, educational and fun, walking tours; fully-comfortable organizing and speaking to large groups of people and walking over 1 mile or more in every type of weather; and knowledge of American history a plus.
